Abstract

This article discusses the sociology of music in general. The writer reflects on his experiences during his studies in European and American countries. He argues that the West is not interested in the masters of classic music. In Europe and deviations in art, particularly in music, began with the rise of ,,The Beatles” and Bill Haley in the 1950’s. Later, Elvis Presley became the idol of the youths, and at present Michael Jackson and Madonna have accelerated the decline of classic music. Fortunately, classic music in Iran, particularly after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, has attracted much interest. Our traditional and folk music are among the richest music in the world. It is incumbent on any artist, specially any musician, to promote them.
