Abstract

Features of traditional architecture have been discussed in relation to man and his society. The discussion has been conducted, from a philosophical, as well as a practical - functional point of view. The author argues that a nation’s cultural and social identity should not be limited to its residential and private environments, but should indeed present itself in macro environmental designs, as well as in public arenas.
Finally the author concludes that architectural design should be truthful and loyal to the cultural and indigenous values, and that it should have a defined goal in order to prove practical and functional for temporary life styles.
