Abstract

Calligraphy, an Islamic phenomenon, is considered by Moslems to be the noblest of all arts; it has been the most influential art form in developing and cultivating Islamic cultural talents.
Iranian Moslems have been the most progressive in the development of various methods and styles of elegant handwriting. They have carried the elegance and the beauty of the art towards unprecedented horizons and have placed it beyond a mere form of transforming concepts and ideas.
By breaching Arabic concepts of the art, they have acquired distinct characteristics, and in beautifying it, they have pushed beyond the usual boundaries of patience, tirelessness, intrigue and fascination.
These artists, throughout the history of their art have invested all their time in creating the craft, and have not scrutinized it theoretically or academically. It is of crucial necessity to survey critically and expertly the attributes and peculiarities of this art from’s different periods so that credible sources of research are attained.
