This paper covers a discussion of various structures as well as introducing membrane structures with respect to the loads and the performance of its structural elements. The main idea for this type of structures was obtained from6 ordinary tents.
The primary design basis for membrane structures as well as an explanation for various shapes and conditions of this type of structures has been considered. Also the design method and the difference between a membrane structure and a simple building with respect to, various material, effective working life of different material and specially the resistance to fire has been introduced and discussed.
In other parts of this paper, lighting problems, heat insulations, types of connections, installation problems with respect to membrane structures, and a required time for a specified structure as an example has been discussed and the eventual total cost of a structure at the time of this paper has been stated.
