Abstract

One of the mainifestations of the Shi'ie thought about Unity is reflected on the Ashura culture and its hidd_n values. Iranian Husayniehs and Tekyehs are the most legible interpretations of such a culture in the _ patial structure of the shi'ie communities. According to this hypothesis, this article has been studJed the importance of Muharram rituals, and generally described the places using for these rituals in the shi'ie communities in India, Turky and Arbic citie1;. Then the study is focused on analyzing the Iranian Husayniehs and Tekyehs according to their spatial and visual qualities as well as the symbolic meanings they hold. It has demonstrated the vitality, diversity and originality of these unique urban spaces in the Islamic world, so important a part of the traditional Iranian {Owns and cities which give them unity and identity. Clearly they have a continuing role to play in future developments and it is to be hoped that this study will help to perpetuate their -importance as manifesting the popular faith of ordinary people.
