In this article at first the role of word, as the essential unit of a language, and then the function of language as a means for man to convey meaning and the changes during centuries occurred to word is discussed.
'Art' for example as a word, has various meanings in Ferdowsi's poems. Fine arts, shooting rules, quarrelsomeness, courtesy, justice, wisdom, nobility, knowledge, generosity, virtue, creativity and God's satisfaction are the meanings that art, conveys. The key word art is companied by phrases such as, coronation ceremonies, noble descent, Zoroastrian Priest and even with the Rakhsh (Rustam's horse).
Ferdowsi regards 'Art' as the divine inspiration or the God's gift to the humanbeings.
