Abstract

The establishment of the
Safavite state in the 17th century made the Shi'ite intellectual life reach at its peak, so that twelve-Immamis sect of shi'ite
belief gained an independent political and cultural identity; an identity and character which were bound to be the cultural essence
of all aspects of shi'ite life
thereafter and provided gounds for blossoming of intuitive.
Philosophical and practical ideas.
This wisdom, which spreaded throughout the safavite era in the countries uhich had close relations with Iran namely, Iraq, syria and
India, has been called "Isfahan school". And the Center of it were
in addition to Isfahan-which was'
tradiliorally the capital city of the Safavite shiraz, Kashan, Qazvin
and Tabriz.
The establislment of the safavite state in Isfahan provided an opportunity for it to constitute its uotopia on the basis of philosophical and incorporeal ideas; the utopia ahich regarded the city as symbol, materialization and spatial realization of such
idias and corcepts, as planning, design and construction sehemes of Isfahan during a 25-year period is a clear expression of this symbolism and spatial
Organization. And it is so solid, clear and elegant that establishes
a sclool of thought in the field of city design and planning to be named as "Isfahan school", due to its philosophicol and incorporeal origins.
The person who foundid that school, was Sheik Baha' oddin Ameli (Sheik Baha'ei) who had the innitiative to imprint the shadow of mythological, religious and philosophical utopias on the gound. And, since the sheik was among the founders of "Isfahan school" in philosophy, decided to erect the city on the basis of logics discourses, aided by mystic concepts and enriched in the light of Catharsis and intuition.
