Abstract

The physical spaces of Greek plays were among the most important issues that impacted on the quality of the performances. In spite of some differences, they all cross each
other in some main characters. One of the main characters of those spaces was this fact that they all were constructed near to a sacred place. All the features of those “theatres” could
be explained based of religious worldview of the Greeks and their relationship with the gods. During the time, when the Greeks began to change their views of the gods and religion, the architectural features of the theatres became different from the past. The new Greek philosophy based on man’s power instead of gods’ authority presented new physical spaces where
there was no sign of religious elements. These new theatres served only as spaces for theatrical purposes.
